1.75 million tourists visited Pakistan in 2017 : PTDC – Pakistan Tourism

The improved security situation has increased tourism in Pakistan by 300 percent over the past few years, stats a report emerged on Wednesday.

Statistics from the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) revealed that 1.75 million tourists visited Pakistan in 2018 alone. Which includes 30 percent, domestic travellers.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), revenue from tourism contributed around $19.4 billion to Pakistan’s economy in 2017 alone and is expected to rise to $36.1 billion within in next 10 years.

The government is making efforts to promote tourism and make Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation a financially viable organisation, says Abdul Ghafoor, managing director PTDC.

He also said University of Management and Technology Lahore and PTDC have signed Memorandum of Understanding to sponsor tourism department’s publicity materials including banners, posters, website, portals, seminars, and conferences.

Recently, PTDC has launched Pakistan Tourism Friends Club, where members of the club can avail 20 percent discount on facilities provided by PTDC
